J.R. Ward is most definitely my favorite author of all time! Just throwing that out there. This was my second time reading this book and I must say I liked it a lot more than I did before. My first time reading this, I distinctively remember not liking this series as much as her Black Dagger Brotherhood one, which disappointed me greatly. But as I said before, reading through it again, I liked it a lot more for some reason. There were a few things that I didn't like, hence it only getting 4/5 stars.

First off... I'm never really a fan of the "falling in love in a matter of days" thing. For me, I think it should take more time than that. And due to personal reasons I haven't been feeling the romancey stuff lately so that also swayed me a little. However, this isn't one of those 50 shades of stupid (oh... I mean gray) romance books with raunchy sex scenes everywhere. This is definitely a romance book with a great plot to it.

Which brings me to the plot of the book :) I really liked this concept and I caught a few things I missed during my first go around. I understood that this series was going to be about the 7 deadly sins but for some reason I didn't get the "greed" "covet" connection. It was nice to finally have the "ah ha" moment (sort of... and followed by the "wow... how did I miss that" moment).

The characters are also great! A little older than I like them but hey that's what imagination is for. J.R. Ward has the fabulous ability to make what I call "real" characters; characters who say it like it is and not worry about dropping a few dirty comments and f-bombs every so often. Her characters have always been to token "bad asses" and some of their comments I just love enough to use them in everyday arguments :)

This was a great first book and really set the stage for the books that follow and J.R. Ward continues to hold my favor! I simply can not wait to dig into the next one to see what Jim has to put up with next :)
